Orrville student, Brendan Niehaus (front) and Frank Becker of Smithville High School help clear the Heartland Rails-to-Trails section near Marshallville as part of the Wayne County Community Youth Foundation community service project.
On April 15, members of the Wayne County Community Youth Foundation (YF) were divided into three groups to work on outdoor community service projects. Two teams helped on Rails-to-Trails and one at the Secrest Aboretum. Team R planted trees near the Rittman trailhead and Team M hauled logs out of the trail being developed that runs through Marshallville. Team SA sanded and refinished the terrace railing at the Kristen Jackson Memorial.
YF was established to provide leadership, educational and practical experiences on how foundations operate in local structured philanthropy and non-profit organizations to help their communities.
