The Women's Fund, an Affiliate Fund of the Wayne County Community Foundation, was established in 2013 to address issues affecting the lives of women in Wayne County, Ohio.
What is The Women’s Fund?
The Women's Fund is a partnership of donors, grantees, and volunteers working to enhance the quality of life for women of all ages in Wayne County, Ohio. Through grantmaking and fund development, the Women's Fund aims to help women reach their full potential. By investing in various programs, the Fund will be a resource for organizations and community agencies that support women and increase their contributions to the community.
Why do we need a fund that is for women only?
Despite dramatic advancements by women in recent decades, women are still far more likely than men to be homeless, live in poverty, be unemployed or under-employed, face violence, or suffer from inadequate housing and healthcare. More women than men are single parents responsible for the care and protection of their children.
What, specifically, does The Women’s Fund support?
Key issues the Women’s Fund addresses include education, economic empowerment, and quality of life for women and children. The Fund is an additional resource for organizations and community agencies that support women. Specific uses of the Fund are determined by members of The Women’s Fund Advisory Committee. They invite and review proposals, work with other service agencies, and recommend grants to the Foundation’s Board of Trustees for final approval.
